Intent

The Social Sciences curriculum incorporates aspects of Sociology, Psychology and Child Development this course is offered as a pre-option subject in Year 9. Social Sciences combines all aspects of human life, including: how people grow and develop physically, emotionally and mentally, individual differences and how groups of society function together. It also poses questions such as: Who commits more crime? When does a child’s language develop? How does the media influence our behaviours? This course allows pupils to develop their knowledge, understanding and critical evaluation skills alongside developing their own sense of morality and views on the world.
